Mayer Steel Pipe Corp. is the first specialized manufacturer of steel pipes andtubular products in Taiwan. Since its founding in 1959, Mayer has been devoting to the production and sellingof high-quality steel pipes and tubes. Across all tubular product markets from steel tubes for general structural purposes to steel conduits, galvanized steel pipes, and gas line steel pipes, the Mayer brand is now considered a symbol of prestige that guarantees quality and reliability. In addition to its solid business reputation, the company has also built up a powerful distribution network to ensure its market share leadership. n 1980, the company became the first in Taiwan to develop on its own high-quality inner bead removed carbon steel tubes for machine structural purposes, successfully bringing domestic steel pipe technology to a much higher level and immensely facilitating the substitution of home-made machine structural-use carbon steel pipes for imported ones in local automobile, motorcycle, and machine processing industries. This is no doubt an important contribution to greater industrial self-reliance here in Taiwan. In light of the need to upgrade drinking water pipeline materials for improved living quality of local citizens, Mayer infused additional funding in 1988 to set up a new plant for stainless steel pipe production, which includes the Series 304 stainless steel tubes for piping and structural purposes and the Series 309 and 316 stainless steel pipes for structural purpose. This not only added to the comprehensiveness of Mayer's steel tubular product line but offered the market a new line of steel pipe products at a much higher quality. In 1997, the company established the Guangzhou Mayer Metal Co., Ltd. in the Guangzhou Development District to provide a full range of convenient and rapid cutting and distribution services for all sorts of hot and cold rolled, electro-galvanized, hot-dip galvanized, enamel baked, electro-magnetized, and stainless steel sheets and coils as well as aluminum plates, and to engage in the manufacturing and selling of a variety of hot and cold rolled carbon steel and stainless steel pipe products. Since it went into operation years ago, Guangzhou Mayer Metal has received wide recognition and support from clients, with its products already reaching Eastern and Central China markets with great success. In 2003, Guangzhou Mayer received government approval to convert itself into a foreign invested enterprise limited by shares, and was renamed Guangzhou Mayer Corporation. In March 2004, Guangzhou Mayer acquired the Putuo District-based Shanghai Fervent Alloy Wheel Manufacturing Co., Ltd. to expand into the manufacturing of aluminum alloy wheels. Currently the company produces an array of cast, polished, electroplated, and forged aluminum alloy automotive wheels ranging from 8 inches through 26 inches, which are marketed across the United States, the European Union, Japan, and Southeast Asia. In the meantime, Guangzhou Mayer is working closely with major Mainland Chinese automobile assemblers to embark on its new business deployment in non-ferrous metal-related industries. |
